ADJUSTABLE GASTRIC BANDING (SAGB) METHOD

The surgeon places a silicone gastric band externally around the proximal stomach and creates a 25 ml-pouch. The volume of this pouch is adjustable. The diameter of the pouch, where the foods pass is determined by inserting an injector into a reservoir placed just under the skin.

This technique creates an hour-glass in the stomach. The proximal part of the stomach is small. When you start to eat, the distension in the wall of first compartment stimulates the satiety center in the brain.
